During lunch time, Aaron and K.C sat on their usual table in the school library.  Their legs were touching, a gentle closeness. Aaron gave him half his sandwich. K.C removed the apple slices. “You look nice,” K.C said. “Um I wear this shirt a lot. It’s nothing special,” Aaron said. His former friends labeled him stuck up. But Aaron didn’t judge other boys for their t-shirts and jeans. He simply liked his shirts starched and collared. Today's shirt was a red button down. “No, it is. You always stand out and you’ve got your own particular style. It’s cool.” Aaron tugged the striped cuff of K.C’s letterman jacket. “Isn’t it um good though, matching your other friends?” Like coats of arms, those jackets symbolized comradery. “It makes me feel part of the group. But sometimes I feel like I’m not an individual. Like all I am is a few trophies,” K.C. said. K.C took off his jacket, revealing the constellations of freckles on his arms.
